Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) which are popularly called Drones are aircrafts whose flights are either controlled by ‘Pilots’ in the ground with the help of a Remote Control (RC) or by autonomously by on-board computers with some pre-designed programs. International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) refers Drone as Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA).
Taking technical aspects into consideration Drones are named in the following types –
1. Unmanned Air System or AIS
2. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or UAV
3. Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS)
4. Model Aircraft
UAVs, the remotely piloted flying vehicles were first to be introduced in the history of Drone, but autonomously controlled Drone Technology is increasingly becoming popular.

Military Purpose of RC Flying Drones
Drones are usually used in military and in special operation applications. There are various types of products that are based on Drone Technology. They broadly fall in two categories as regards the purpose of use i.e.
1. Those which are used for surveillance and reconnaissance purpose or security purpose
2. Those that are used in military and armed with bombs and missiles
RC Flying Drone Technology for Civil Applications
Civil and Commercial UVA drones or Remote Control (RC) Flying Drones are also being specifically developed for various civil and commercial applications. The civil applications are also growing such as in monitoring natural calamities, detecting danger or fire-fighting etc. However, these days due to popularity of RC flying Drone Technology many other devices for amusement and games are also being manufactured.
Use of Drone Technology in Disaster and Calamities
The main advantage of Drone over manned aircraft is realized during disaster control. NASA used Drone Technology to study and predict hurricanes. A manned aircraft has to fly above the storm height to monitor a hurricane or similar storms while a drone can fly in the storm as well as above the commercial planes. It can run at a speed of more than 400 miles /hour.
When there is break of forest fire or fire in locality, human fire fighters are at great risk. The administration can use Drone Technology to send unmanned fire fighting drones.
Drone Technology in Commercial Film Making
In both United States of America and Europe UVA videography is widely practiced in for shooting films or even capturing a disaster. In New York and Los Angeles use of Drones in localities has been banned fearing terrorist activities. However, film industries in both Europe and America urge permission of Drone Technology in shooting and videography.

FAA or Federal Aviation Administration in Europe is now trying to frame guidelines for the drone operators and debated on this issue in a meeting in 1915. FAA regulations usually grants hobbyist drone when they fly within 400 meter height and in the range of operators’ sight.
In USA there are guidelines but are often violated in case of film making. In New York and Los Angeles use of Drones in localities has been banned fearing terrorist activities. However, film industries in both Europe and America urge permission of Drone Technology in shooting and videography.
Drone Technology in Sports
Drones are widely being used in sports photography just like cinematography. For example, Drones were employed in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi for shooting aerial view of events like skiing and snowboarding. They are also more flexible than a camera system suspended by cable. Besides, in many adventure sports Drone Technology is found to be more convenient and giving better photography.
Drone Technology in Domestic Policing
Despite threat of terrorism UAVs are increasingly being used for domestic police work in Canada as well as in the United States of America. It is banned in Seattle.
Drone Technology in Toy Industry
You can find a lot of toy helicopters and airplanes that are flying being controlled by a remote in your hand or your kid’s hand. No need to mention that those are also miniature versions of drones. It reflects the popularity and success of Drone Technology.
RC ADVENTURES – Flying RC DRONE
RC ADVENTURES has brought a series of RC Flying Drones in the market. The interesting part is that there are drones that can be controlled by an iPAD which is named as Parrot AR 2.0 Copter. The company has also created the smallest drone in the world, a miniature model for display.
