Metal Gear Social Media Account Newly Appears, Reigniting Rumours

After a sea of unsubstantiated rumours, the presence of a new Metal Gear Social media account has many of us curious. Myself included.

But what could its sudden appearance mean?

Besides, many of the current rumours surrounding an upcoming Metal Gear game have come short of issuing anything concrete.

In each case, the avenue of inquiry has suddenly met a dead end, with nothing substantial to showcase, despite a handful of promising leads.

With that in mind, today's story comes as somewhat of a surprise. Now, there's no question that demand for a new instalment, or rather, a resurrection of a past classic, is considerable.

Even so, after all this time, no official announcement has been made. That makes this newly created Metal Gear social media account all the more fascinating.

Whichever way you lean on this, the existence of a Metal Gear social media account has many of the IP's die-hard fanbase base utterly flummoxed. And for a very valid reason.

So, without further delay, let us journey deep into the inner sanctum of the matter. In a desperate bid to uncover the truth about today's titillating topic, I hope we can all find some closure.

You mean METAL GEAR?!? I sure hope so, Snake. I sure do.

In recent months, speculation has been mounting over the existence of several future Metal Gear projects. The rumours, though left unvalidated, have been hitting the industry hard for a while now.

Besides, such a steady stream of speculation can't all be for nothing, right?

These rumoured projects range from Metal Gear Solid ports to a series of remakes. And even the possibility of a brand-new franchise entry. However, the latter option is probably less likely. At least, if you factor into the equation, fan reception of Metal Gear Survive. Ouch!

That one left a sore scar for me. The likes of which may never fully heal! But back on track.

Recently, the presence of an official Metal Gear Twitter account has only further ignited the flames of speculation. Albeit via a curiously cryptic tweet. Nevertheless, it was enough to send pulses soaring.

The tweet itself, posted by @Metalgear, is in response to another associated account. Which, on the surface, seems to be hinting at some Metal Gear centred news.

At this point, it's a relatively narrow breadcrumb trail to chase up. But perhaps the associated account can issue further clues as to what's in store for players.

The Tweet reads: "Tom, we talked about this. Please check your Codec each morning for meeting updates and evacuations in-case of PMC incursions. And we have visitors coming next week, so finish cleaning the vents and make sure the flags are all hung properly, but do not touch the C4 this time."

Metal Gear Social Media Account | What Could This Mean?

If you're wondering who the recipient is, that would be @TheTomOlsen. Interestingly, this person is apparently a fictional character from the series, with firm ties to Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty.

Scan through their Twitter bio, and you'll witness the words, "Maintenance Technician at the Big Shell."

For those in the know, the "Big Shell" was Konami's primary destination for Metal Gear Solid 2, acting as the backdrop for most of the experience. What's more, the account in question is itself newly formed.

Not only that, but they've been mysteriously dishing out tweets quite frequently in recent times.

Most of which relate in some manner to The Big Shell. The sheer fact that these practically all have something to do with the iconic venue may point to a potential MGS2 related announcement.

But as of now, it's still too early to tell.

Past Metal Gear Solid Rumours

News of this comes following a series of recent rumours. The main one being 4chan's claim of a Metal Gear Solid PS5 collection. Which, according to the poster, would offer player's the initial four Metal Gear Solid games.

Alongside that came the notion of a Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots re-release. But that one was a little more leftfield. That's not all, though. After all, the rumour mill is a vast, near-limitless void of hype.

Before that rumour came to pass, though, Bluepoint was the topic of contention. Though this time, that mainly concerned a remake of Metal Gear Solid. Of course, despite all these countless claims, we have no official word.

No definitive proof that something is in the works. Besides, there's every chance that the person responsible for the Metal Gear social media account is just embarking on a bit of back-and-forth banter.

In which case, we would have another dead-end. On the other hand, the specific nature of tweets, coupled with both profile's Metal Gear Solid connection, could indicate that something fruitful is in store for franchise fans. Of which, there are many!

The good news? Well, we need only hang around a week until we find out for sure. With that in mind, do stay tuned to us. Rest assured. We will serve you the latest scoop soon as it arrives on the scene.

Something tells me this won’t be the last we hear of Metal Gear. Whatever form its future inevitably ends up taking.

So long as it isn't pachinko based, I'll be happy. Thankfully, I don't think there's anything to worry about on that front. Fingers crossed.

That concludes today's topic. What do you make of the Metal Gear social media account story? Is there something more to this than greets the eye?

On the other hand, is this just a topical conversation between two Metal Gear Solid related accounts? As always, your views matter to us most. So please send them down below.

I love to read them all.
